Photographing the bond of Grandchildren and Grandparents

The last twelve months have certainly presented us with some of the most challenging times we have ever seen.  Despite the uncertainty and trials of 2020,  it has brought to the forefront, what is truly important in our lives, FAMILY.  Connection, communicating, and just as importantly being in the presence of loved ones. Something so simple as going to see the grandparents were taken away from us. Isolation was in a word, awful. Grandchildren grow and change so quickly and for grandparents to not see them for months on end was truly devastating for many!

Grandparents are that special Bond

A wise old woman (my mum) once told me “grandparents have more time for their grandchildren than they had for their own kids when they were small”, and it’s true. As parents, we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of living, working, daycare, homework, the list goes on. Then, Grandparents visit and they are 100% in tune and available to their little munchkins.

Grandparents are literally the Funparents. 😊

Grandparents play such an important role in the upbringing of their grandchildren, it is a very unique type of bond. What better way to capture the connection than with photographs. It’s clear from these photos that Adrian and Josephine are pretty active fun-loving grandparents with a great sense of humour. The photography session was absolute mayhem, like literal mayhem, we laughed, we negotiate, we laugh and negotiated, more negotiation, actually a lot of negotiation 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think this picture here sums up the mayhem

 grandchildren and grandparents

In ten, twenty, thirty years’ time, these photos will trigger endless memories for these grandchildren.  Photographs depict special moments in time. These little ones may or may not remember this particular photo session, but what they will remember is nannies’ laughs. That nanny was so special she made me this outfit (and many more). That poppy had the best laugh and was constantly tickling us. It will just trigger so many thoughts and good times. It freezes that month in time that passes too quickly.

The precious nature of family and creating lasting memories through photography is something you will always cherish and remember.

So right now, at this moment, make the most of the time you do have together. The precious nature of family and creating lasting memories is something you will always cherish and remember.

As time and life continue to move forward, a photograph allows us to return to that moment whenever we choose.
